Pilot Program To Halt Financial Abuse Of Older Residents Launched In Marin County
Local bank tellers and police will participate in the program to help the District Attorney curb fraud. A pilot program has been launched by District Attorney Lori Frugoli and the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services’ Aging Division to prevent financial abuse of older residents. The initiative aims to empower bank staff to intervene when an older customer attempts a suspiciously large or uncharacteristic withdrawal. The pilot will run for two months at six San Rafael branch locations. The program will also target older adults and their family members, caregivers, and staff at senior facilities.
