Imagine Dragons bassist Ben McKee and his wife Mary are selling their Oakland Hills home — a place where they enjoy “quiet solitude” after band tours.

The retreat — located at 6262 Virgo Road, Oakland, California — features San Francisco Bay views and a stunning gourmet kitchen.

Just hitting the market for $1.295 million, the residence is a place where McKee can throw open the doors to get a fresh breeze and sit down to compose music, the musician said in an email.

The couple bought the home for $1.15 million in 2014, according to public property records. Listing agent Sharon Ho of Compass said the McKees spent nearly $1 million remodeling and expanding the house and making it even more to their liking. They added two decks, a third bedroom and bathroom on the lower level with a separate entry, air conditioning and a hot tub.

“Upon entering, you’ll be immediately captivated by the breathtaking panoramic bay views that create an atmosphere of pure tranquility,” the property listing states.

The 2,696-square-foot house sits on more than a quarter-acre with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

The creative chef’s kitchen in the home is most notable.

“Being a part of the Imagine Dragons is a huge part of who I am, of who we all are, but it’s not all we are,” Ben McKee said in a YouTube video showing how much cooking is a part of his life.

With a massive stove, industrial-sized faucets side by side and a pantry in an open style, the recently renovated, Tuscan-inspired kitchen will be among the house’s features that stand out in McKee’s memory.

“Life on Virgo Road has been filled with some pretty incredible memories,” McKee said in a statement. “From recording segments for cooking shows with (chef and restaurateur) Ming Tsai and (hotel heiress and businesswoman) Paris Hilton in the professional quality kitchen, rolling out dough on the butcher board counter tops, to composing music with the doors open to a refreshing breeze, enjoying the quiet solitude of a dead end road in the hills, there have been so many things that I look back on with fondness.”

The residence is located in the coveted Montclair Village neighborhood of Oakland, known for hillside views of the bay, lush landscaping and charming homes. The Virgo Road home feels private, yet shops and restaurants are less than two miles away.

Outside the house, there are “enchanting gardens,” the property listing states. Decks provide picturesque bay views. The primary bedroom loft-style suite is next to a patio and hot tub.

“My wife and I celebrated our wedding with a photo session in the beautifully terraced garden,” McKee said. “We hosted countless game nights and dinner parties with our friends in the living room and around our dinner table. With all of those moments though, I think the thing I enjoyed the most was simply to sit outside on the front porch and watch the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline as the red tail hawks left their perches for the day and were replaced by the great horned owls that call to each other into the night.”

The hugely successful Imagine Dragons is known for the pop rock hits “Radioactive”, “Demons”, “Believer” and “Thunder.”
