Marcus Paige opens up on UNC, the Charlotte 49ers and his most famous shot
Now an assistant coach with Charlotte, Paige returns to Chapel Hill Tuesday, when the 49ers face the Tar Heels in an exhibition game. Marcus Paige, the new assistant basketball coach for the Charlotte 49ers, has been interviewed for the "Sports Legends of the Carolinas" series. He was a standout point guard for UNC from 2012 to 2016 and graduated as its all-time leader in three-pointers. He now works under former Tar Heels Wes Miller on the Charlotte staff. Paige was not retained by new coach Michael Malone after Davis was fired following the Tar Heel's first-round exit in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The interview can be heard on the “Sports Legends” podcast.
