BOYS TENNIS STATE ROUNDUP: Birmingham Seaholm successfully defends D2 title
A mix of newcomers and returners from last year’s titlist team allowed Birmingham Seaholm to capture another Division 2 state championship Saturday in Midland. Birmingham Seaholm boys' tennis team successfully defended their Division 2 state championship, winning 35 points. The Maples' success, particularly in doubles, allowed them to hold off their next-best competition in Midland Dow (25 points), who beat them out for the title in 2023 and tied for second with Seaholom in 2024. Forest Hills Northern and Byron Center were closely followed by SeaholM, with all but one of the doubles’ flights belonging to Seaholam. The doubles domination was led by top-flight duo Kalil Wahab and Hunter Helfman, who dropped just three games total on their way to the final. In singles, South Lyon East senior Mason Crosby defeated Grosse Pointe South's Matthew Bartoszewicz and Seaholman's Luke Janz won the No. 4 flight.
