An East Bay hideaway in the tranquil hills of Oakland’s Montclair Village, owned by Ben McKee of Imagine Dragons, is now available for $1.3 million.

The secluded three-bedroom, three-bathroom home offers privacy and sweeping views of the San Francisco skyline from several rooms. With nearly 3,000 square feet of living space on a roughly 12,000 square-foot lot, the property features amenities like a deck and hot tub, a walk-in rain shower, a double vanity and a jetted tub.

Listing agent Sharon Ho of Compass noted that McKee and his wife, Mary, invested about $1 million in upgrades, particularly in the chef’s kitchen, which includes stainless steel appliances, industrial-sized faucets and a walk-in pantry. McKee, whose band is known for hits like “Radioactive” and “Thunder,” also hosts a popular cooking show on YouTube.

“Life on Virgo Road has been filled with some pretty incredible memories,” he said in a statement. “From recording segments for cooking shows with Ming Tsai and Paris Hilton in the professional quality kitchen, rolling out dough on the butcher board countertops, to composing music with the doors open to a refreshing breeze, enjoying the quiet solitude of a dead-end road in the hills, there have been so many things that I look back on with fondness.”

McKee added that he and his wife celebrated their wedding with a photo session in the terraced garden and hosted countless game nights and dinner parties with friends.

“With all of those moments though, I think the thing I enjoyed the most was simply to sit outside on the front porch and watch the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline as the red tail hawks left their perches for the day and were replaced by the great horned owls that call to each other into the night,” McKee said.

Constructed in the early 1990s, the brown wood-shingled building sits on a terraced, garden-adorned lot of nearly one-third of an acre in Montclair Village. McKee purchased it in 2014 for $1,150,000.

McKee will trade 6262 Virgo Road for a tour bus for the next few months as he joins Imagine Dragons for a North American trek in support of the group’s latest album, “Loom,” beginning June 30 in New Jersey, and ending Oct. 22 at the Hollywood Bowl.

“It is a very special place and I will never forget the time that we spent there,” McKee said. “I’ve never lived in a place like it and I know that I will never find another place like it.”
