The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that chicken and beef parts were spilled all over the highway. Initially, four lanes were blocked, but later reopened one and closed all of them for cleanup. The CHP advised drivers to take alternate routes and it is unclear when the lanes will reopen.

All northbound lanes blocked on I-880 in Oakland after meat spill

(KRON) — Meat spilled across all lanes of Interstate 880 in Oakland on Friday evening, causing standstill traffic. Currently, all lanes are blocked as crews clean up.

The lanes are blocked on northbound I-880 just south of 29th Avenue. California Highway Patrol’s traffic log said chicken and beef parts spilled all over the highway.

At first, four lanes were blocked due to the spill. CHP later reopened one lane and then closed all of them for cleanup.

CHP advises drivers to take alternate routes. It is unknown when the lanes will reopen.
