Share the Spirit: Where Bay Area human trafficking survivors turn for help

From housing to job programs to spiritual support, Love Never Fails offers trafficking survivors support they need. In the mid-2010s, a woman known as Tish was trapped in a cycle of human trafficking, with her captor keeping her young son hostage for several days. She escaped and found refuge in a nonprofit called Love Never Fails in the Bay Area. The organization's executive director, Vanessa Russell, approached Tish and led her to the East Bay offices where she found stability. Tish now works as a network engineer for Cisco Systems in Silicon Valley. Russell founded the organization in 2011 after experiencing the challenges of rescuing someone from trafficking firsthand. The work of rescuing human trafficking is often difficult, with survivors often revictimized repeatedly, stigmatized if they cooperate with police, and sexually assaulted by pimps and johns.
