The Arizona Coyotes' NHL arena situation was back in the spotlight Thursday, but not because of anything the team has or hasn't done.
The team finds its arena situation in social media chatter because of the stadium situation of an MLB team: The Oakland Athletics.
A's owner John Fisher announced Thursday that his franchise will play the 2025-27 seasons in West Sacramento's Sutter Health Park, home of the San Francisco Giants' Class AAA ballclub, in advance of an expected 2028 opening of their ballpark in Las Vegas.
The team, which conducts Cactus League spring training at Mesa's Hohokam Stadium, will play out this season at the Oakland Coliseum, before moving to the minor-league facility, which seats 10,000.
The announcement and the situation were met with a lot of criticism on social media with some calling the Athletics the "Arizona Coyotes of MLB."
