A spokesperson says if Oakland renames the city’s airport to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport then passengers could book a flight thinking they’re going to one location only to end up in another.

An Oakland official says most international travelers don’t know where the city is and this would clearly identify the airport. The rebranding will be up for consideration at a meeting next week.
