The accident occurred at 10 a.m. on Seminary Avenue and Outlook Avenue. Police found the motorcyclist lying on the street bleeding from the head and his motorcycle had major front-end damage. The victim, a Black man in his 50s, was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Speed was a factor in the accident, although it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were to blame. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

(KRON) – A man has died after a motorcycle accident in Oakland on Monday, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Oakland police officers were dispatched to investigate a one-motorcycle collision into a light pole in the area of Seminary Avenue and Outlook Avenue at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Responding officers located the motorcyclist lying on the street bleeding from the head. According to police, the motorcycle was on the ground with major front-end damage next to a light pole on Seminary Avenue.

OPD officers summoned medical personnel who transported the victim to the hospital. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after.

According to the police preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was traveling northbound in the second lane of Seminary Avenue approaching Outlook Avenue. When he merged onto the first lane, he lost control and collided with a light pole in the center median. Police said speed was a factor in this collision.

The victim is an Oakland resident who is a Black man in his 50s. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in this collision, according to police.
